Open To… Skill Seekers
Meet Alyesha Hutton
Our Communications Executive
I was faced with some big decisions as I was leaving University about my future. Whitbread stood out to me as a big name local employer.
I started out in Guest Relations, but quickly made an internal move to the PR side of the business. When the role came up, many different people shared it with me as they could see my potential to thrive. They weren’t wrong. It’s really ignited my love for PR and I’ve got the responsibility to speak my mind and do what I feel is right. I can’t believe this is my job.
Traditionally my role would involve quite a lot of press releases and writing, but my manager saw that my strengths lie more on the creative side of things - editing and bringing stories to life visually.
That, plus my dyslexia, have been really considered when thinking about what my day-to-day looks like. The business's approach to supporting me has really built my confidence, and I can feel it continuing to grow every day.
My video editing skills have come on massively, and I love being able to bring stories to life for an audience.
I’ve even been able to do this for Alison, our CEO, helping everyone in the business to really understand our vision and where we’re headed. I can see how my work contributes to Whitbread, and I can’t wait to keep learning and adding to that, knowing I’ve got all the support to grow my career.
We are Whitbread and we are #OpenToYou. Join us here.
