Payroll Manager

Salary: £50,000- £55,000

Location: Dunstable

Job Title: Payroll Manager – FTC/Secondment until end of February 2025 Grade: B16 Location: Dunstable (minimum 3 days per week in the office)


Job Overview: 

The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading the internal Whitbread payroll team, providing all payroll processes that need to be completed for our chosen provider to be able to complete our payroll. This role will be central to our internal payroll processes, key controls and business support to our circa 40,000 weekly and monthly paid employees across Support Centre and Operations in multiple territories. Reporting into the HR Admin & Payroll Manager, this role will support the end-to-end payroll function ensuring we are fully compliant.

Minimum Skills/Experience Required:

Knowledge: 

  • Previous experience in a payroll lead role is essential with a large scale organisation. 

  • Understanding of HR policy and processes associated with Payroll is essential. 

  • Excellent knowledge of UK legislation and end to end payroll processes. 

  • Knowledge of Republic of Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, and Isle of Man legislation. 

Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Excel is essential. 

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to work without close supervision and deliver to plan. 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders in both verbal and written forms. 

  • Organised with an ability to deliver to tight deadlines. 

  • Excellent attention to detail. 

  • Logical approach to problem solving. 

Experience: 

  • Experience of working with 3rd party providers. 

  • Working with multiple stakeholders at any given time. 

  • Audit controls. 

  • Attending Operational meetings. 

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.  

  • Proven experience of working with multiple payroll systems
