The Accounting Analyst is responsible for processing journal transactions, executing month-end processes and preparing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure reliable, timely and accurate information is provided to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be a ‘hands on’, pragmatic individual who will ensure that results are delivered on time without compromising the standards expected for financial processes and controls. This will be a broad role, covering a number of areas of the P&L and Balance Sheet – as well as supporting in some of the IFRS 16 specific accounting.

What you will be doing:

  • Executing the month end process and posting journals
  • Ensuring P&L lines owned are well understood, with timely insight provided at month-end and key reporting periods i.e. Year End and Half Year
  • Proactive analysis to support issues arising from the above
  • Liaison with third party service providers and ensuring data integrity
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with the PI Ops. finance, Retail Audit and Commercial finance teams
  • Supporting the above teams and others with ad-hoc queries and projects
  • Management of the sites queries mailbox in partnership with the other GL Analysts, ensuring all queries are answered in line with the agreed SLA
  • Understanding and providing commentary for variances against budget/ forecast and YOY/ MOM movements of the balances
  • Support the delivery of the Financial Control Framework within the wider Reporting & Control team and assist the Accounting managers to deliver a timely month end close with relevant insight and commentary
  • Ad hoc duties include answering audit queries (internal and external), and answering site level P&L queries
  • It is important that this person has a good grounding in double entry accounting and is part qualified. Experience in Control and/or commercial roles gained within hospitality is desirable

  • Studying for or recently attained a professional accountancy qualification. As a result – strong double entry skills
  • Commercial finance experience supporting a business unit
  • Strong Excel and communication skills in speaking to finance and non-finance trained people
  • Tenacity in problem solving and analytical skills to identify root cause issues and participate in solutions
  • Knowledge of Oracle preferred
  • Presentation skills and dealing with non-finance people on a regular basis
  • Involvement with providing schedules to audit
