Role: Senior Accountant External Reporting

Location: Dunstable - we have a fantastic hybrid working environment, you’ll need to be in the office at least 2 days per week but the rest of your week can be flexible to what works best for you and your role.

The Senior Accountant - External Reporting is a member of the team which ensures the accurate and efficient accounting, consolidation and external reporting for Whitbread PLC and subsidiary undertakings.
Inside the role:
- Identification, communication and managing the resolution of accounting issues including drafting of technical papers
- Liaison with and challenge to external auditors
- Drafting of audit committee papers
- Management of the production and control of all versions of accounts and development of reporting in line with best practice/FRC guidance
- Provision of ad hoc accounting advice, e.g. acquisitions, disposals, provisions, impairment
- Liaison with tax, legal and audit
- Creation of accounting papers that consider technical and practical accounting from UK GAAP and IFRS perspective
- Chair Technical Accounting Forum
- Accounting for adjusting items including analysis against major projects
- Accounting for provisions for onerous contracts including decisions on how to deal with specific long-term contracts
- Accounting for pensions, share based payments, financial instruments and earnings per share
We're open to you:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good technical accounting skills
- Report writing
- Senior stakeholder engagement
- Audit or production of listed entity financial statements (FTSE 100/250 or Big 4/mid tier professional services firm)
