Talent and Capability Manager - 12month FTC | Hybrid Working | Dunstable

You’ll have a real opportunity to help drive the continued success of our business through shaping and defining the approach and key milestones, including shaping key talent and performance processes.

Working with our Execs and Snr Leadership teams, one of the key objectives will be to deliver the talent cycle across Whitbread, including annual performance review cycle, calibration activities, succession planning and development outputs.

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Lead a dynamic talent review and planning process which delivers clarity around succession risk, succession coverage for key roles including right talent for now and the future.  Ensure visibility of this process at the highest level (reporting through via the Whitbread HRD to the executive committee and the PLC board.
  • Acts as custodian of Whitbread’s talent and performance management processes, from objective setting through to appraisal, simplifying and driving one common process.
  • Develop intervention strategies
  • Design and implement development interventions aligned to our support centre talent strategy that address succession risks and opportunities identified, including career/personal development interventions for specific individuals/groups.
  • Design and implement assessment tools and capability development.  Build capability for line managers and HRBPs around talent identification & development activities.
  • Responsible for the overarching strategy for developing leadership and management skills and behaviours as part of a structured framework for optimal management performance that provides the right level of training intervention and support to the right people at the right time in line with business needs and wider plans.
  • Delivery of a ‘through-the-line’ core management skills operational plan with effective measurement and stakeholder engagement, linking to performance outcomes for management roles and the wider talent pipeline.

 

 

We’re open to you:

  • Specialist experience in talent management
  • Expert management development knowledge and experience, with a sound knowledge of L&D models, techniques and practices, covering physical, virtual and blended delivery methodologies.
  • Experience in managing leadership development programmes
  • Sound knowledge of current training best practice, proven experience of effective implementation of uplift in management capability through pragmatic skills / behavioural interventions covering a range of areas/subjects.
  • Extensive stakeholder management and engagement capability, at all levels and especially of senior level functional leaders/directors.
  • Ability to build strong and sustained relationships that can be leveraged effectively both as collaboration to achieve better end results and for the purposes of leading and influencing on solutions.
  • Flexible yet precise and clear communication style that is well received and understood by all end users, from frontline managers, senior operators, functional specialities to senior leadership.
