With a big retail background behind me, I could feel myself gradually falling out of love with the industry. Whitbread’s Contact Centre was my first step into hospitality.
After five months I got approached about a new role in the Business Accounts and Sales team. This is when my career really started to move at pace. Several roles in, I became an analyst, and now I’m managing a full team. I knew I wanted an office job, but this has really exceeded my expectations.
You really feel like part of a team chasing the same goals here, there’s no politics or competition, just hard work, dedication and reward.
My proudest moment was seeing my team pick up the CEO award at an IT conference from Alison Brittain herself. Being recognised in this way really validates why we all do it, and getting to celebrate the win together was really special.
There’s real scale to the business, more than I ever realised. It means that there’s lots of exciting things going on at any given moment that I just don’t know about. It’s really cool getting the opportunity to share these things with each other.
The same breadth can be found with our benefits, with different networks to join and social events to take part in. Beyond that there’s always people to talk to who genuinely care about you and there’s no prejudice here. Just a welcome group of people working to have fun and deliver amazing results for each other, and our loyal customers.
