Our Senior AM Developer
After spending my career working as a Back-End Developer I was keen to explore Front-End Development and see whether the grass is greener on the other side. That’s when I saw a role at Whitbread.
Since I joined I’ve taken on a whole new skillset, learnt new tech stacks and immersed myself into the world of the customer. Doing work that is visible to our customers excites me. Knowing that every moment I’ve spent is enhancing that experience makes my role feel really tangible and rewarding.
Plus, with live events and launches, we get to see and react in real-time. It’s something I just didn’t have access to in my previous career.
Working in-house was also a massive step-change for me, but one that’s really helped me grow. I find it makes people more invested in the work we do and what we put out into the world.
I’m constantly surrounded by people from different backgrounds, ethnicities and beliefs, and this variety of viewpoints makes for really interesting conversations, and it also means we can use this intel to adapt concepts before they launch.
Whitbread are a company that go above and beyond for their staff, and that team environment has been a consistent thread through my journey. Take the pandemic as an example, the communication and transparency at a time of such uncertainty has been really reassuring, giving me job security when companies all around were laying off staff.
It gave me confidence to just get on with the job and adapt to the new way of working, without any of the panic about my future.
